Tax the Rich

Luxembourg is often described as one of the richest countries in the world. However, déi Lénk does not see it that way. On paper this may be true, but if you read between the lines, you come to the conclusion that there is a huge gap between the richest and the poorest in Luxembourg.

Almost 30,000 children in Luxembourg are currently at risk of poverty, and 1 in 7 workers are classified as “working poor.” The Luxembourg government is committed to ensuring that the pockets of the Bouneweg bourgeoisie and CEOs are getting filled to the brim. Everyone else is left to fend for themselves.

That is why we support the European Citizens’ Initiative “Tax the Rich,” which calls for a new tax on Wealth. The money raised from this tax should then be used across Europe to fight the climate crisis and inequality.

When we talk about taxing wealth, we obviously don’t mean the majority of people who use their money to buy a home or a new car. We’re talking about people who have 900 luxury watches in their safe, and people who can afford 500 million euro super-yachts.
