Social justice, active democratic participation and individual fulfilment: these are social goals that we pursue and that also determine the way we work within our organisation.
Membership
A membership in déi Lénk is always individual. It entitles you to the rights (i.e. the right to vote) that are equal for every member. Being a member of déi Lénk doesn’t exclude you from also being affiliated to another political organisation. Our internal bodies are open for everyone who’s interested in our work; Even non-members can participate in the discussions. This way, we are encouraging a broad and active participation from as many people as possible.
Congress
The most important political decisions for the year are taken at the annual congress, where every member has a right to vote. Sympathisers and non-members that are interested in our work, can also participate in the debates, however they are not entitled to vote.
National Coordination (NaCo)
The annual party congress elects members into the National Coordination (NaCo). This committee is not limited in number and every member can be part of it. The NaCo guides the work of déi Lénk throughout the year, taking important political and financial decisions. Our members of Parliament need to coordinate and come to an agreement with Nako for every important issue that they deal with.
Working Groups
The NaCo also sets up working groups on different subjects that elaborate and further the political program of déi Lénk and initiate specific actions. Every member, as well as non-members can participate in the working groups. The local sections are also represented in the NaCo and can report to it if necessary.
Coordination Office (BuCo)
The daily governance is assumed by the Coordination Office (BuCo) which is composed of a maximum of 9 members of the NaCo. It comes together once a week to deliberate on organisational or financial matters, as well as to discuss the political agenda. The BuCo is also the formal employer of the staff members, work for the movement, supporting the different bodies of déi Lénk and help to execute the decisions taken by the NaCo and BuCo.
Sections
As mentioned, déi Lénk is organised in sections on a local and regional level. The local sections are composed of members and sympathisers that are resident in the corresponding municipality or region, but they are also open to non-members. In the municipalities where déi Lénk have one or more seats in the municipal council, the political work is prepared in the corresponding local section. The sections work completely autonomously, but are ultimately bound to respect the fundamental principles and by-laws of déi Lénk
Rotation
Through our rotation rule every political mandate is shared between at least two people. This gives more members the chance to get involved in our political work, as well as preventing our elected members from getting too comfy and becoming career politicians. We also encourage gender equailty within déi Lénk, be that on our election lists, our internal governance, spokespeople and staff members.
