Our People.

déi Lénk has many faces and is a diverse movement. We have no party presidency, no professional politicians and no hierarchy. Our people who represent us externally are our two spokespersons. And our people who decide the political orientation of the Left together, are represented in the National Coordination (CoNa). 

Spokespeople

André Marques

André Marques was born in 1995 in the Pfaffenthal district of Luxembourg, to Portuguese immigrant parents. Since 2009, he has lived in Bettembourg. He studied history at the University of Luxembourg and in Prague, and has been working as a freelance historian specializing in World War II since 2022. In 2022, he joined the political party déi Lénk and has been actively involved in national politics since 2023.

From 2023 to 2025, André was co-spokesperson for déi jonk Lénk. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Committee of Friends of the Resistance Museum in Esch, and since 2025, he has been co-spokesperson for déi Lénk.


Carole Thoma

Carole Thoma was born in Dudelange in 1990 and has been a member of the local council since the 2023 elections. She studied civil engineering in Kaiserslautern and works as a structural engineer in Luxembourg. During her studies, she became a member of déi Lénk in 2011, first working in the newly created section in Dudelange, then becoming politically involved at national level. Since 2015, she has been co-spokesperson for déi Lénk.

In addition to politics, Carole is also involved in the trade unions. As a student, she became a member of the OGBL and is currently involved as an employee representative in her company. Since 2019, she has also been a member of the Chambre des Salariés.


National Coordination (CoNa)

The Congress annually elects a National Coordination (Nako). This committee is unlimited in number, every member can run for office and every member of déi Lénk can participate in the meetings. The election works on the principle of Gender Parity, meaning that there can only be as many male members elected as there are female members. The NaCo leads déi Lénk throughout the year, takes the important political and financial decisions.

Coordination Office (BuCo)

The daily governance is assumed by the Coordination Office (BuCo) which is composed of a maximum of 9 members of the NaCo. It comes together once a week to deliberate on organisational or financial matters, as well as to discuss the political agenda. The BuCo is also the formal employer of the staff members, work for the movement, supporting the different bodies of déi Lénk and help to execute the decisions taken by the NaCo and BuCo. .
